Mighty good product

I have 6 hot water radiators in my home. 3 of them quit working. I am not a plumber, but i figured out the actuators was the problem. I found some that were very, very expensive. ( ouch ) Then i found Supply house that had the exact same thing for about a 1/4 of their price. Very easy to install and works beautiful. Can't say anything bad. All good.

Wish there was another player in this actuator

Over the winter, I had 2 of my 20yo actuators (same part number, exact replacement) go bad so I thought I'd proactively replace the other 7 zone PopTops. The old ones had served me well and maybe it's time. Only 2 weeks later, I've had 2 of these brand new units fail open; ironically on zones that worked perfectly prior to replacing. Remove power, remove the PopTop, still locked open. Tap on the side of the motor and the actuator closes. Clearly a PopTop failure. I'd consider that a very high failure rate with no other brand/design as an alternate. I wish now that instead of buying a couple extra of these for spares that I'd have kept the old ones for spares. Supplyhouse is easy to work with and not their fault but I have less confidence in my boiler function with these installed now than I do with the old ones.

MEH

These work, but definitely not my first choice. Erie was a good valve, but now I experience frequent failures. I stock these because in Milwaukee they are very popular, but there are probably better zone valves on the market.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: My oil fired hot water furnace supplies heat to 6 zones using one circulator. Each zone has one of these actuators to control it. Under normal operations how should the two levers each be set? If there is an unexpected shut down of the burner and ciruclator , how should the levers be set to allow hot water to reach a zone to supply emergency heat to that zone? Thanks, Bill Cunningham, homeowner

The levers are manual override levers so they can not be set. The lever should be in locked position to manually open, however if there is no power to the burner or circulator, chances are opening the valve wont provide heat.

If you have circulator or burner problems you would not have heat you have to fix them to get heat

Yes, part AG13A02A is the actuator only. It can be used to replace an actuator that has gone bad on compatible valve bodies.
