No, the adapter has left hand male and female threads. It is a fail-safe device (switch) designed for water heaters equipped with a damper that closes when the burner is off. I ended up getting a BFG Manifold/adapter kit which included Manifold door assembly, one Ferrule nut, one thermocouple adapter, two leads with push-on connectors with a label and installation manual. I believe I purchased this from SupplyHouse.com or similar supply house.
This unit is not an adapter to change a left hand thread to a right hand thread. It is a replacement part for a flame guard.
You can use this adapter to covert lh to rh thread thermocouples. The spade connectors are used for a flame roll out safety device. If your heater does not have this feature, build a jumper with two female spade connectors to complete the circuit at the adapter.
The part you have is an adapter for a gas control valve on a wall furnace. If you can't find a replacement thermocouple you can either replace your w/h control valve or take a right hand thermocouple and tighten it until it remakes the threads. If you try this just make sure you hold the thermocouple end square. You can use a pair of channel locks and push while turning it , the brass threads are soft enough that they will re-thread. It make take a couple tries, but it works and is the cheapest way to go, I have done it several times when parts weren't available.
