My dual fuel setup (Rheem RP1560 / RH1T6024 air-source heat pump and Bryant BW4 oil-fired boiler) is controlled by four thermostats (Honeywell VisionPRO 8000 TH8110R) connected wirelessly (Honeywell THM4000R RedLINK adapter) to a four zone panel (Honeywell TrueZONE HZ432) switching five hydronic valves (Taco 571-2). The pump has its own transformer, but the rest of the system with a maximum draw of nearly 125VA had only a 40VA transformer (stats) and a 50VA transformer (panel and zone valves). Replacing them with this 150VA transformer simplified the installation and ensures that all equipment has adequate power!

My final rewired config -> 5 zone (Taco zone valves) , Weil McLain hot water baseboard house heater system. I replaced the existing three 40VA transformers with one 150 VA transformer ( the transformer in this review) - After rewired to new config , all works very smoothly. ( transformer with built in circuit protection is a big plus).

When mounted to a wall, the transformer does not align with typical electrical boxes. I used a "floating" small box between the transformer and the normally-mounted electrical box. Otherwise this seems like the best option for having a consolidated 24vac supply for various HVAC devices. I use that to eliminate the need for relays when connecting multiple devices. For example, a thermostat demands a radiant zone via a Tekmar zone valve controller as stage 1 and an air handler as stage 2. I use this transformer to supply both the air handler and the zone controller instead of the smaller transformers that used to power them individually.
