Description

Since the cleanliness of all homes are not equal, GeneralAire offers an easy-to-use, easy-to-read gage. The air filter media will load, capturing airborne particulates, raising the gage indicator to the red zone, letting you know it's time to change your filter.

so far so good....

Have only had it for a few weeks, so no idea how it will perform over time. It's smaller than it looks in the picture. Mounting and adjustment were easy. I have a furnace with variable fan speed, which affects the reading -- need to adjust it and check it with the fan at top speed! On my system, the AC fan speed is different than the heating fan speed, so I'll have to re-adjust it every season. The adjustment moves very easily; I'm concerned that it will move if bumped so I marked the setting with a permanent marker.

Gage Function?

I have a Trane Model TAYWAR0278 forced air furnace. Installed the gage per instructions, and it just does not work. Adjusted the calibration screw and no pointer can be seen at any time. Unless you advise otherwise, will pry it off and return.

I am happy with product

Drilling one hole for some clear plastic 3/8th hose and adding a plate for it to stick too it installed on my central air with little problem. Easy to read and will take away the worrisome eyeball guessing if my filters need changing. Probably should've bought it before all the inflation it may have cost half the price. But anything else I've seen cost much more. Capable of being easily disassembled and cleaned.

There Must Be A Better Product

The Lens Leaks. The Rivets Are Loose. The Set Screw Is Way too sensitive. One Bump And It's Out Of Calibration. The Customer Touched It And Now The Needle Is Gone, How Will It Make It Through One Air Filter Use.

Would Buy Again

Could Not Remote Locate It HOWEVER the Furnace Door Works Out Very Well. If You Have A Two Stage Furnace Set It On The Low Stage As Thats What Runs The Most. Make Sure The Plastic Rivets Are Pushed In If They Are Loose It Will Throw Iff The Reading.

poor quality

the clear cover leaks, the 3 plastic pins do not keep the two pieces together so reading are erratic.

Not exactly reliable

The set screw used to calibrate the gauge is too loose. It needs to have more resistance to keep it secure. As soon as you lift off the screw after setting it it changes the calibration. You really need a light touch and even then it's futile.

Helps me know when to change filters.

It was easy to install; drill 3/8" hole in the right place and stick with double sided tape. Works well, but I didn't take into account that our furnace fan runs at different speeds. This is really best for furnaces fans that only run at one constant speed.
