The Grundfos TPE100-160/2 is a single-stage, in-line centrifugal pump with a standard motor and mechanical shaft seal. It is a close-coupled type, meaning the pump and motor are separate units, which results in the pump being less sensitive to impurities in the pumped liquid than similar pump of the canned rotor type. This unit's motor features a built-in variable frequency drive, which gradually ramps the motor up to operating capacity rather than abruptly subjecting the motor to a high starting torque and current, which ultimately lessens the mechanical and electrical stress, reduces maintenance and repair costs, and extends the life of the equipment while maintaining an optimal comfort level. This model allows for several configurations and control methods such as constant pressure, temperature or flow via an external signal from either a sensor or a controller. Typical applications include: heating, district heating, air-conditioning, district cooling, industrial cooling, industrial processes and water supply.
