Check valves fail, pump runs under zero demand
Have 5 of these pumps. They work fine, except the check valves have failed on all of them, which causes the pressure to drop as soon as the pumps slows. This causes the pump to think there is a flow requirement, so it never stops running. This boils the water in the pump, melts piping, etc.
I have used DAB pumps in the exact same application and they have performed flawlessly. I believe they use a flow meter to help determine pump speed as well. Never had a check valve failure or any other issues with them. These CMBE pumps replaced the DAB pumps when we needed to upgrade the system for higher flow, but they have been very problematic.
Knowing Grundfos owns DAB, I thought these would be comparable quality. However, in addition to being more reliable, the DAB pumps have a much better user interface (digital, more settings, finer control of pressure, records total flow, etc).
