Not sure how the pump works. The first one died on the get go!! Not a good thing, I have owned the previous models the MQ over the past 15 yrs with good results. The big benefit is no pressure tank, can fit in tight spaces etc.. I bought a spare in case things went south and still paid about the same as a pump & pressure tank. I run these on rainwater systems

Yes, I did buy another pump because the first one started leaking out the bottom of the pump on the get go! Why would I buy another one, because I have bought the older version of this pump with good results. Plus having a back up is not a bad idea, while the first one gets fixed or replaced. Stuff happens and I happen to have it right from the start. My biggest problem is Supply house!! I called with this issue and not even a word on helping me with my problem. I was told to call the manufacture and ask them about troubleshooting. A little help, good service after the sale goes a long ways!! I will keep buying from Supply house because their prices and delivery are the best. Service? maybe not
