Yes-It's greyish brown...there's no golden or sand about it!
No, it is definitely a golden-ish color. I tried to find a sample of the color online, but unfortunately didn’t see one. A l a n T h o m p s o n
The color of the grill in the picture is misleading. Golden sand is more of a tan like color like in the picture at the site below: http://www.westsidewholesale.com/catalogsearch/result/?department=0&q=HVAC+Register%2C+4%22+H+x+12%22+W%2C+Steel+for+Floor+-+Golden+Sand+%28010632%29
It is brown, it's not really off white.
I'm not sure what you see in the picture, however the color is between a tan and a brown color, not at all what I would consider "off white". John Seager 25 Howe Lane Hollis, NH 03049
It is not just an off white color...it is more bronze color. However, u can spray paint it any color you wish.
According to the submittal sheet, the maximum depth would be 21/32".
I sold the house that i had this floor vent in, but i believe its about 1" deep maybe deeper. I used it on my wood kitchen floor that was 3/4" thick and it went below that.
It only protudes about 1/2 inch into the floor. It is very shallow.
This is a surface mount grill. It protrudes above the floor between an eight and three-sixteenth of an inch John
I'm probably too late answering your question, but incase I'm not, see answer below: 12X24 & 12X12 = 21/32" deep http://www.hartandcooley.com/assets/files/a/sd-2006.pdf
Please refer to the dimensional drawing at the link below. http://s3.pexsupply.com/product_files/11877-Submittal.pdf
The od of that register is 10" x 32" They all very slightly but that is the standard.
I just measured and the outside dimensions are 31 3/4 inches by 11 3/4 inches.
According to manufacture website, add 1 - 13/16" inch to shown dimensions.. http://www.hartandcooley.com/products/265/heavy-duty-steel-floor-grille

Yes; this grille is well-made and withstand being used on the floor, assuming your registers are on the perimeter and it will not be in a high-traffic area.
The outside dimensions of part 11867 measure 7-13/16" x 31-13/16".
I purchased the 10" X 30", and the outside deminsions are 11-7/8" X 31-7/8". I believe they claim the size is 1 inch greater on each side, however it does measure slightly smaller.
