These are not thermostats, they are zone valves. They are either open or closed depending on signal from thermostat
SOUNDS LIKE THE HONEYWELL ACTUATORS ARE BAD
There is an indicator on top, is it moving?
Hi, The Zone valve only opens and closes. If you're trying to adjust the temperature, it may be that your thermostat is defective or you might want to check that your heat source is putting out enough heat. The zone valve opens and closes when the thermostat tells it to. Jeff
For what it's worth, I have never had a problem getting the needle to move to line up with the dot. I am not sure that lining up with the dot is really a good measure of whether the valve is acctualy set correctly. I have three valves with these operators; I have replace the operators neumerous times, because the operators seem to only last a couple of years. Of course the warranty is only one year. If you have a choice, I would recomend you go with a valve that uses a different operator.
You may have to replace the spring loaded parts that are within your manifold
You give me precious little to go on. If you haven't installed the actuator on the valve then you won't be able to move the needle over the dot. The actuator must be installed. If the actuator is installed and you still can't move the needle by tightening down the knurled ring, then the actuator is likely broken. Sent from My iPhone
When you attach the motor to the valve by means of tightening the brass colored nut at the bottom, the needle should move. If you tighten enough, it will move right on past the dot. If its not moving the motor unit is broken or it is incompatible with the valve you are attaching it to.
An 'End Switch' is an electric switch mounted on the motor linkage that will stop the motor movement when it reaches limit by opening the electrical circuit to the motor.
The end switch sends a signal to the system that the valve has opened.
There are two varieties of this operator. This one has a switch (end switch) the closes when the valve opens. In my system that is used to tell the controller that it is ok to turn on the pump. This operator has 4 wires, two yellow which power the operator and two red wires which is the end switch. The other version w/o the switch has only two yellow wires.
An end switch is a normally open or closed switch that reverses it's normal state when the primary operation of the control is complete. In this case, the motor drive of this device opens the zone valve to allow water to flow, and the end switch closes, completing a control circuit that turns on a pump or pump and boiler to supply water and heat to a zone.
