Reliance questionable
This product has two components, a cylindrical plastic block with 4 separate brass connectors designed to couple two copper wires together at each brass connector .
The second component is a 6" piece of shrink tubing that slides over the cylindrical plastic connection block. Unfortunately a #12-2 NM Romax cable will not be sealed with a rated heat gun because the Romax cable doesn't have a thick enough diameter to allow the shrink tubing to make a water tite fit let along an air tite fit. So if you buy this product don't try it on anything less than a 10-3 NM Romax cable- maybe!!!!
Alas, Once upon a time the electric utilities had a kit that comprised a clear plastic cylindrical tube with a small funnel that allowed you to pour some AB epoxy into the tube which literally encased the wires into a water proof hardened block.
