GR-3/4 3/4" Guide Rail System with 2" NPT

I buy and resell slide rail systems from a number of different manufacturers in my line of work. I chose the Little Giant slide rail system to go with some Little Giant submersible pumps, figuring that they were made to work together. It is designed to use 3/4" pipe rails. However, it is not the most elegant slide rail system that I have found. The upper bracket is made of painted steel, with a pair of bent 3/8"-thick rods that fit very loosely inside of the pipes. The quick-disconnect itself is made of bronze or brass, and looks very good; however, it does not include the stainless steel eye bolt that is required to attach a lifting cable. The IOM shows that the Installer is to use a bent piece of allthread for lifting, which doesn't work if the sump is more than 24-deep; anything deeper and the Contractor will have to obtain a permit to get into the pit to grab the lifting bracket, which kind of negates the rationale for using a slide rail system in the first place. I had to go to a local rigging supply to find the SS eye bolt, because it is not found at most hardware stores; thiswas not good use of my time. If I had drop-shipped this to my customer (a plumbing contractor), I am pretty sure that I would have received at least one irate phone call asking why I left out those lifting eyes. He can't afford to pay plumbers' wages for his guys to run around town looking for obscure hardware. Little things like this turn into big problems and make our company look amateurish. Also, for some reason, it was a month late being delivered. I do not know why, but that meant that I was late delivering to my customer, who is late delivering to the jobsite, who is late installing it, making him look bad to the GC. While slightly less than a comparable Conery system, I would opt to use the Conery system with Little Giant pumps next time, as theirs come with all of the parts and pieces required to connect to the pump and cables/chains. And they are in stock.
