It works but...
It works but maintenance needs to be performed regularly. Area of air intake is small and screen is a fine mesh that will clog with dust debris. If screen gets clogged you will start getting errors on your tankless display and you will need to perform maintenance to get water heater working again. I have seen that another major Tankless manufacturer (Rinnai) has come out with a large air filter for some of there models, great idea and Noritz should do the same. Although Rinai's filter is very pricey at around $200 USD (I have not tried Rinnai's filter). I think that I will consider making my own air intake filters in the future.
