I2K Copper Ice Maker Outlet Box w/ 1/4 Turn, Low Lead (Contractor Pack)

I sweated it in to 1/4" OD copper pipe using the following copper part from McMaster-Carr to match the 1/2" ID of the brass spigot/stop input as part of a refrigerator icemaker hookup to a reverse-osmosis water filter: 5520K301, Solder-Connect Fitting for Copper Tubing, Reducer, Female Socket-Connect, 1/2 Size x 1/4" OD. Pretty sure that is the right one, never did this before, but got some lead-free solder and lead-free rosin and a powerful torch. Those cloths that drape over things to prevent burning them are great, get two. I put some lead-free plumber's putty around the top of the valve to help prevent internals from melting. Removed after. Practiced on one set first, put the solder on, like a cm-long bead, touching the copper not currently enflamed, and let it sort of suck into the roughened solder joint, roughened with some sort of tape-like sandpaper, using capillary action. Then I compression-fit the outside hose to other end of the pipe with the sweated-on stop and ran full water pressure on it for hours. All seemed well. This is a very nice unit, and the mounting capabilities are well thought out.
