Description

Panasonic WhisperComfort 60 Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), Wall/Ceiling Mount Exhaust Fan, Model FV-06VE1

The Panasonic WhisperComfort 60 (model FV-06VE1) is a UL listed energy recovery ventilator that provides tempered fresh air supply and balanced exhaust airflow to maintain neutral pressure throughout your home. This wall or ceiling mount ERV uses a high-efficiency capillary core to recover heat and maintain moisture levels, delivering continuous ventilation that meets ASHRAE 62.2 compliance standards. With customizable airflow from 20 to 60 CFM and HVI certification for both energy recovery and sound performance, this unit solves the challenge of ventilating tightly sealed homes without sacrificing energy efficiency. The WhisperComfort 60 is built for homeowners and HVAC professionals who need whole-home ventilation that recovers conditioned air while bringing in filtered fresh air.

Key Features & Benefits
  • Energy Recovery Ventilation: This ERV uses a high-efficiency capillary core that recovers heat from outgoing air and transfers it to incoming fresh air, maintaining moisture levels in the process. You reduce heating and cooling costs while ensuring a constant supply of fresh, tempered air.

  • Customizable Airflow Control: The multi-speed selector delivers low-speed continuous ventilation from 20 to 50 CFM, plus an occupant-controllable boost function that reaches up to 60 CFM. You can adjust ventilation levels to match occupancy, activity, or air quality needs without running the system at full capacity constantly.

  • Flexible Mounting Options: This unit mounts on ceiling or wall installations using a 10-1/4 inch mounting opening and 13 inch grille size. You gain installation flexibility for new construction or retrofit projects where space or structural constraints limit placement options.

  • HVI Certified Performance: The WhisperComfort 60 carries Home Ventilating Institute certification for energy recovery and sound performance. You can verify airflow and efficiency claims through independent third-party testing, ensuring the unit meets published specifications.

  • Static Pressure Access Ports: Built-in access ports allow field verification of airflow to confirm ASHRAE 62.2 compliance during commissioning. Installers and inspectors can measure actual performance rather than relying solely on manufacturer ratings.

  • ENERGY STAR Qualified: This model meets ENERGY STAR requirements for energy recovery ventilators. You benefit from reduced operating costs and may qualify for utility rebates or tax incentives in applicable jurisdictions.

  • Thermal Fuse Protection: Integrated thermal fuse protection safeguards the condenser motor and ball-bearing Sirocco blower wheel from overheating conditions. The unit protects itself from damage during abnormal operation or installation errors.

  • MERV 13 Filtration: The unit includes a MERV 13 filter in the fresh air intake stream. Incoming air receives high-efficiency filtration that captures fine particles, pollen, and other airborne contaminants before distribution through the home.

Compatibility & Requirements

The WhisperComfort 60 requires 120V, 60 Hz electrical power and uses 4 inch diameter ductwork for both fresh air intake and stale air exhaust. The galvanized steel housing mounts in standard joist spacing with a 10-1/4 inch rough-in opening. Installation requires a compatible dual-rocker control switch (sold separately) to operate the standby/on function and the low/high speed selection, as the unit does not include integral switching.

Installation & Care

This unit is designed for new construction installation with all mounting points, duct connections, and the electrical junction box positioned below the unit housing for access before drywall installation. The grille design requires drywall to be cut and finished flush to the metal rough-in flange, as the cover grille does not overlap the flange edges. Filter maintenance involves accessing the MERV 13 filter element for periodic cleaning or replacement to maintain airflow and air quality performance.

What's Included
  • WhisperComfort 60 ERV unit housing
  • 13 inch grille cover
  • MERV 13 filter
  • Mounting hardware

Warranty & Support

This model carries a 3-year parts warranty from Panasonic. The manufacturer provides technical support for installation and troubleshooting questions through their customer service line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the WhisperComfort 60 energy recovery ventilator? A: The WhisperComfort 60 is a UL listed ceiling or wall mount energy recovery ventilator that provides tempered fresh air supply and balanced exhaust airflow to maintain neutral pressure in residential applications. It uses a high-efficiency capillary core to recover heat and moisture from exhaust air, transferring that energy to incoming fresh air to reduce heating and cooling loads. The unit is HVI certified for energy recovery and sound performance, with adjustable airflow from 20 to 60 CFM.

Q: What control switch do I need for the Panasonic WhisperComfort 60?

A: This ERV requires a dual-rocker control switch to operate properly. One rocker controls the standby/on function, and the second rocker controls the low/high fan speed selection. The unit does not include integral switching, so you must purchase a compatible dual-pole switch separately. The wiring diagram in the installation manual shows the specific connections required for proper switch operation.

I would NOT buy this ever again.

I've been a customer of Supply House since it was Mr. Pex. This product has directions that are poorly written, and vague an heck. When I called customer support for Panasonic I could not get my questions answered because I could NEVER get through.

Great product to comply with mechanical ventilation rule

Unit is quiet, easy to install. We paired with the Panasonic dual rocker switch for ON/STANDBY and HI/LO operation. Did have a small problem with the unit and Panasonic tech support was excellent at resolving the issue and sending us a warranty part fast.

Confusing wiring diagram

The electrician was confused on the first discontinued model. I think he blew the motors. It wasn't clear whether a control switch was needed or not. It appears its needed, but no recommendation of what types of switches on supplyhouse.com

Look over install details first

I agree that the wiring is confusing….you essentially need a double pole switch. One is for Stand By / On and the other is for Lo / Hi fan speed. It would be better if Panasonic wired it to easily accept a smart Leviton switch….where you could control On/Off and Fan Speed remotely. Other thing to note is that the Panasonic brand "2 into 1" duct that requires a 7" hole to be cut outside is extra wide. It wouldn't fit in between my joists for my application and I couldn't use it.

love the merv 13 filter, hate the new grill

The new grill design requires drywall be installed behind the metal rough-in flange, otherwise the ragged drywall edge will show. This is a fussy and time consuming detail to execute in the field and a ridiculous redesign from the previous grill that extended well past the flange for easy installation. Dumb. Cool to have a MERV 13 filter in the new model but its unfortunately overshadowed by the design/installation flaw.

Product not made for retro fit.

The item is not made for a retro fit. The product is made for new construction, because all the secure attachments are below the incoming and out going pipes and also under the supply electrical box on the unit. The unit that I put in I had to struggle with to get the screws in through the attachment areas. Also once the unit was put into place and as you are in the attic you do not know which is the air intake and the air exhaust. You have to know this ahead of time and mark the box on top with a black marker , so you know which is what. The unit once installed also vibrates , and this is low speed, but it is advertised as Whisper comfort 60 ERV. Not a good design for either new or retro fit. Being a contractor in the field for Manley years I would not buy this unit again.
