The filter is absolutely the best!!

These filters do a great job at removing a mix of fine and coarse sediment. When using a 5-micron filter I often experienced problems with silt accumulation on the surface of the filter, increasing pressure drop. With the Dual Gradient filter, the silt is captured in the outer layer of the filter and provides good filtration longer without pressure drop problems.

When we upgraded our water system, this massive filter system was installed as getting the older cartridges was proving to difficult for some reason. Now,: No Problem!

The DGD-5005-20 Big Blue Dula-Gradient Polypropylene Sediment Filter Cartridge is the best. It removes most, if not all, of the rust, etc. from our septic system. I will continue to purchase this filter!!

This is a "dual gradient" filter with a very long life span. I routinely install the 20 inch housings and just change them once a year as part of an annual service for customers. The 50 Micron outer shell has high dirt load capacity and the inner 5 micron layer does the final filtration with increased lifespan. A single rating filter such as a 5 micron only will clog much faster because dirt will plaster up on the outside of the cartridge clogging the filter quickly.

This is the "Dual Gradient" cartridge made by Pentek under the American Plumber brand. The 5005 designation indicates the outer layer is 50 micron followed by an inner layer rated at 5 microns. Huge dirt holding capacity in the outer layer without flow loss followed by 5 micron inner layer filtering. I routinely install these 4"X20" cartridges on a yearly schedule with no problems whatsoever in a residential or light commercial setting.
