PL-68 Effluent Filter, Filter Only (800 Gallons Per Day)

I clean annually. I glued in 3/4 PVC pipe handle extension work s sweet . Easy to clean.

We already have one of these in our septic tank. However, if you try to clean the filter when it's almost clogged, the water level in the tank will be higher than normal, and if you pull the filter out, it will allow sludge to go into the drain field. By having a spare filter, you can do a "hot swap" by pulling out the dirty filter and immediately putting in the clean one. This allows the water to drain into the field down to a normal level with almost no sludge carryover. Then you just clean the dirty screen and keep it somewhere in the backyard. Perfect arrangement!

This is my go to filter for fitting in a standard 4" outlet baffle. If I'm installing a new outlet baffle I prefer the PL-122 if you can make it fit (the ball for cleaning is nice). From my experience the A1800 filters clog and wouldn't be worth it even if they were the same price (nearly double). If you're really bad at maintenance the A100 or A600 style filters tend not to clog even after 4-6 years for many of my clients, but are 10-20x ish more expensive, but worth it if you want to save the drainfield and also prevent backups into the house from clogged filters from lack of regular cleaning. Make sure you have a strong outlet pipe since the A100 and A600 aren't lightweight.

handle attachment broke on instillation, was almost unable to remove filter after the handle ripped off. plastic just not strong enough to this type of use. not worth the time or money. i did get a refund with no problems so thank you for that.
