Golden Extractor Tub Drain Tool

The product says it is a universal fit but it is too small for an older (1951) Kohler tub drain. The tool broke when I used it because only two teeth gripped the inside of the drain and the movable piece broke. That said, it may work fine on a newer drain.

Product worked good. I thought it would have worked slightly better. But, at the end of the day it got the job done. Not sure if any other tools would have got the tub drain out. Product is slightly high in price but worked.

I had two. I broke one by OVER TORQUEING IT WITH A 1/2" RACHET, and the other I loaned to another plumber. He liked the way it worked so well, he never gave it back!! I use it to remove tub drains because it is small enough to fit in the drain. Then, when it's expanded, the tool steel teeth bite into the soft zinc or brass drain and begin the turning process. Just be sure not to over torque the the tool, like using a 1/2" rachet. A 3/8" rachet is sufficient. And here's a tip: You can use this tool to also INSTALL drain spuds.

3/8" ratchet to use it is just stupid, 1\/2" drive you get some leverage. returning mine, too much money for a tool that is ineffective.
