Missing essential seal
I've been plumbing for 20 years - electrical elements come with the washer/O-ring to seal it to the tank. These were missing. Caused a bit of a scramble as this is not a part that either my local hardware or supply house carried. We eventually found an o-ring to press into service. Supplyhouse.com should either include the seal, or note it isn't there, and link to where they sell it. It isn't expensive - unless you plan on having it, and you don't. The element worked fine.
