This probe should have its tip in the flame. A current flows through the flame to ground, the burners in this case, providing proof that ignition has occurred. Continued sparking happens when the probe tip is not in the flame.
No. Check all your connections & ignition electrode placement. The ignition module unit grounds via the mounting screws. If you have a poor ground or the electrode is not directly in the flame the unit cannot sense the flame and will continue to relight. These are great units, I use them to make auto lighting gas lanterns. Once they sense flame they stop sparking. Occasionally they will spark when the wind blows the flame away from the ignition electrode..
