Seemed Like a Decent Filter, It Cracked In The Middle Of The Housing.

Excellent filtration in a glycol based air2water heat pump system.

I bought this filter in Jan of 2025 after needing to replace my plugged heat exchanger on my wood boiler system. March of 2026 (14 months later) I noticed water on my basement floor and found the filter to be leaking. Assuming it was a bad O-ring I placed a bucket under it thinking in a few weeks I may be shutting the boiler down and would repair it then. A few days later the leak is 4 times worse. I shut the system down and find that its not the O-ring but the housing the filter screws into has cracked a full inch up the threads. Un-repairable. I had to remove the whole filter system and replace it with pipe to keep my heat going. And to be clear, the instructions and the filter itself says hand tighten. It has never had a wrench or pliers on it. I easily removed the canister by hand. Very disappointed. Not only did I spend over $150 with tax for the filter. I'm now back to not having a filter on my system and don't know what to use now.

So far I haven't had any problems with the hot water filter. I was a bit worried because the main body is made of black plastic, the kind used in automotive radiators. It tends to expand and contract with temperature causing leaks. However, the inlet and outlet are reinforced with stainless bands. I have no leaks with 180+ degree water. I like the clear bowl allowing visual checks for sediment. The filter comes with a PVC ball valve to allow blow-down.

I used this filter on the inlet side of my heat . It was a needed addition to my wood boiler. Works great.

Used on an outdoor wood boiler that was bought used so there was doubt what the water drum condition would be. Luckily it was in good shape and what did break free was caught easily and removed with this filter system.

Installed on an outdoor wood boiler and has worked great, wish they offered a 1 inch option but just used bushings, other than that well worth the money.
