There are several different factors that need to be considered when sizing an air conditioning unit. For example, the size and layout of your home, how well your home is insulated, the type and amount of windows, etc. Therefore, it is recommended that a certified installer complete an assessment of your home to determine the size of the unit(s) you would need for your space.
Q: Is this indoor unit work by itself or do you have to purchase an outdoor unit too? If you have to buy an outdoor unit to go with this indoor unit, what do you purchase and what is the cost?

The outdoor unit that would be compatible with this indoor unit would be SKU: C2472 24,200 BTU Ductless Mini-Split Cool Only Air Conditioner (Outdoor Unit). The pricing for this unit is listed on the product page on our website.
Yes, you need the outdoor unit. It's the KHS2472 and it does both cooling and heating. Your best bet, would be to buy a set, with both units included. You will also need a line-set to connect between the two units.
