Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffHi Stu, thanks for writing in. The threaded end of this tee is 1" female NPT and will accept a 1" male NPT thread, although you should not thread PVC into brass directly.
Q: Is the FNPT adapter permanent, or can it be moved to one of the other positions? In other words, can I make this into a 3/4" FNPT x 3/4" Sharkbite x 3/4" Sharkbit Tee?

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffThe FNPT piece is removable, but there is not a lot of space to get the disconnect clip in. The tongs may work better but it could still be tough to get it released.
Q: Can you connect a hot water heater expansion tank in the horizontal position to the threaded part of the tee ?

If the expansion tank has the same size NPT thread, that would make for an extremely easy connection.
Q: The image of this product does not show a threaded connection. Is the T threaded? Also, Is this suitable for PEX or copper only? Is this a lead free item for potable water? Thanks, Adam

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffThis "Female Centre" tee (part U462) has 3/4" SharkBite connections on the two ends with 3/4" female threads in the middle port, which is slightly off-center.
Adam, The "T" is not threaded, it is a shark bite fitting where the pipe (pex or copper) is simply pushed into the fitting. It is safe for potable water.
I have used this and it's not threaded. Will accept led tubing or copper. I used it for potable water. Sent from my iPhone
The tee is threaded on the branch and you can thread anything into the female threads. I used one (with a bushing to 1/4") to install an icemaker supply line and it worked great.

hi adam You will receive a tee like the one shown along with a threaded insert. They also sell the threaded inserts separately which i found them very useful. They can be used for pex or copper. These fittings come with little plastic inserts also which you should remove if using them with copper. As far as my knowlege goes, these do contain lead, yet can still be used for potable water. I don't think the lead has any way of leaching into the water. eric
