Description
–
Water hammer occurs when the flow of moving
water is suddenly stopped by a closing valve. This sudden
stop results in a tremendous spike of pressure behind the
valve which acts like a tiny explosion inside the pipe. This
pressure spike reverberates throughout the plumbing system,
rattling and shaking pipes, until it is absorbed. Normally, a
sufficient pocket of air will absorb such a pressure spike, but
if no pocket of air is present, expensive fixtures and appliances
within the plumbing system will be damaged as they
are left to absorb this pressure spike.
Materials:
- Straight sweat arresters are compatible with press-fitting systems, such as Viega ProPress and all push-fitting systems such as Cash Acme SharkBite®
- Straight compression arresters install on any 1/2" nom. copper leg or riser. Especially popular in retrofitting 1/2" nom. air chambers
- MIP thread arresters install on any new roughin or retrofit installation with 1/2" FIP fittings
- CPVC solvent weld arresters install on 1/2" CPVC tube or fittings in rough-in or retrofit applications
- All Mini-Resters are AA size
- All Mini-Resters are approved for sealed wall installations with no access panel required
- May be installed at any angle

Excellent, easy to install and solved the problem
We live in a condo which doesn't let you turn the main water off without getting a plumber to come out for $175 first. Plumber thought we had debris in our pipes and was going to cut out the wall. I was 99% sure it was water hammering and did not want to go through this.
We had been running our sink with low water pressure and still having issues with hammering in the ceiling when we turned the water off. Also the fridge door water would cause hammering so we turn the pressure way down.
Got this, installed it easily on the cold water line after the shutoff under the sink. This has a MALE and FEMALE end. The female end goes over the male water line connection, and the male end goes into our braided hose for the faucet.
One of these solved the problem in the whole cold water pipe to our kitchen (no more hammering with the kitchen faucet or water from the fridge). Full pressure up and no issues. Excellent!
Definitely suggest getting some plumber's tape to put on the threads too.

Didn't live up to the hype
After reading tons of reviews, stating these are the absolute best and what the pros use I figured it was a no-brainer to get these over the ones from the big box store. These were perfectly silent for the first two weeks, and I believed all the claims made in the reviews…. Yet here we are six weeks later from my purchase date and the water hammer is back. The shark bite brand I bought from one of the big box stores lasted three years before the water hammer affect came back. It's a bit of a bummer when a supposed "pro grade" product doesn't live up to the claims. Major thumbs down on these.

Easy to install on my washing machine. Fixed my problem of pipes rattling because machine continuously starts and stops the water when filling. I can't even hear water running through the pipes like I used to.
