Draft Inducer Kit, KIT16582

Our 24 year old well maintained Trane Furnace was not working. We had a lot of attention from companies wanting to sell us a new unit. The cost of course was very high so we were shopping! One HVAC PROFESSIONAL, offered that he could fix it since the problem was the electric motor. We ordered a Kit from Supply House which included a new circuit board and wiring harness, to update the system while we were at it. Since our system was so old there had been several upgrades over the years, but Supply House had all the right answers! We placed an order for the recommended parts Kit and our HVAC PROFESSIONAL did the install. Shipping was 2 days, and the support group was knowledgeable and very customer friendly. Today, our system is working like a brand new one, at 1/3 the price of a new unit. You can depend on Supply House!

Although the only thing that failed on my American Standard furnace was the inducer motor, that particular part could not be found/purchased anywhere; believe me, I exhaustively scoured the internet. That would have been a $100 part, and 10 minute job. What I did find was this complete kit: inducer, circuit board, wiring harness, and hot surface igniter. Much higher pricetag, and much more labor intensive, but there was no other option. Supply House absolutely has the lowest cost for this kit and the shipping was super fast! I am pretty mechanically inclined, but I've never changed anything on the furnace other than a filter. That being said, I was able to remove all of the old components and install all of the new components in about 5 hours. I took my time, and documented (with pictures and written labels) how everything was supposed to go back together. The instructions were somewhat helpful, but they are written pretty technically. Downloading the PDF on a laptop is a good idea because it gives you color photographs instead of black and white. For the most part, once you have a good idea of what you are dealing with, the system is plug and play with the existing furnace components. The hardest part for this DIY guy was wrapping my head around every component and wire being used. At 3am I buttoned everything back up, powered it up, pressed the door panel switch and hoped for the best. Whooooooosh! Everything worked just as it should. Very very happy to have heat back in the house again.

Fair warning: This kit is not for the novice. If you lack experience and/or tools in basic electrical wiring, as well as good mechanical (including sheet metal) skills, you should hire a professional HVAC tech to install this for you. With that said: If you're got said skills and tools, installation goes easy! The parts are all of good quality, and they come from the same people who made your furnace, so they're going to work perfectly well -- if you know what you're doing. Supply House has excellent customer service as well. I can't believe how fast the kit got here!

Defective circuit board in the kit results in two more days in the cold! Nothing runs like a trane!
