These take the guesswork out of whether or not to replace a thermocouple. They work well and the contacts are long enough to attach an alligator clip to, allowing you to light the pilot with having to hold the contacts against this device

Not recommended
Tried to test an old thermocouple and the threads didn't line up. Tried it on a new thermocouple and had the same problem. I guess I got a defective one.

Great Product!
Great product, I have been looking for one for years, Had one 30 years ago and misplaced it and was never able to find another one. Just unscrew the thermocouple from the gas valve screw testing adaptor into gas valve and screw thermocouple into adaptor then hold test probe leads on two side terminals of adaptor to test millivoltage output of the thermocouple created by the pilot!
