The Venstar T1010 can be set to either have the backlight continuously stay on or turn off 8 seconds after a button is pushed.
Yes. By comparing the operating manuals for both brands, it appears that they are the same product, just with different brand names. Links to the two manuals are shown below. Based on the fact that they are virtually identical, I would feel comfortable ordering one to replace the other. http://www.totaline.com/dl/P474-10101ForAllProgrammableDigitalThermostat.pdf http://www.venstar.com/Support/Manuals/T1010ManualRev1.pdf Hope this helps.
It does not use a battery. One of the several thermostat supply wires provides the electricity. The unit clips into a wall mounted support bracket. The wiring is already attached to the wall mounted support bracket. Buy a new Venstar 1010 unit and then simply un-clip the old one from its wall bracket and clip the new one in its place. I suppose there could be a problem with the electrical supply to the thermostat wiring. That is most likely to occur if the A/C unit has an automatic shutdown, such as when the float switch is activated because the the drain line is plugged. Such an event kills the power to the thermostat wiring and causes the Venstar 1010 to appear to have failed. But if the thermostat wiring has power, in my experience if the Venstar 1010 display is blank, the unit probably just needs to be replaced.
Yes, you can, but not vice versa.
