Great integration with Home Assistant
I replaced a Nest thermostat with this unit because I wanted local network control and more functionality. While maybe not as high tech looking as a Nest, this thermostat is highly customisable if desired, and far more information can be pulled from it using the local API than anything I could find in my research on residential thermostats.
I'm only using this for a 2-stage heating system with no cooling tied in; I have an evaporative cooling system on a separate control.
The Venstar Skyport app works fairly well for those who want remote control without a home automation integration, however it's a bit dated in design and I couldn't get some of the settings profile to upload correctly. This meant I had to do the deep programming from the thermostat itself. For most people there aren't more than 10 settings out of the near 70 that you'll probably need to touch during install.
I can't speak to longevity yet, but so far I'm liking the way it works.
