ViegaPEX is rated up to 100psi at 180°F. It can also be used with chilled water and is compatible with propylene glycol antifreeze.
I would say, yes. I used 3/4" red pex on a commercial dishwasher that was 180° water temp. Its been in service for over 1 year and no issues.
Yes it can. Steve Omner No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
ViegaPEX tubing is intended and recommended for use in hot and cold potable water distribution systems. Design temperature and pressure ratings for ViegaPEX is 160 psi @ 73°F and 100 psi @ 180°F. ViegaPEX tubing can also be used in "continuously-recirculating" plumbing systems at temperatures of up to 140°F while still maintaining excellent chlorine resistance. For information on the suitability for other hot and cold water applications not listed here, consult with your Viega representative.
PEX is not UV-resistant and must not be exposed to sunlight. We recommend sleeving exposed PEX with PVC rather than painting it.
There is a plastic sleeve that is used to insulate copper pipe when it is underground, also you can use pipe foam insulation. If it is underground, nothing is needed. As for painting, I don't think you can completely conceal the pipe and I'm not sure what the paint chemicals would do to the pex.
You may need insulation from the cold weather if exposed. Depends on the climate where you live.
only way to use this pipe outside is to box it in, out of the sunlight. the uv will ruin it quickly, maybe even within a year
I doubt this stuff will take paint and its not suitable for any kind of sun exposure. I'd try to protect any outside supply line from accidental damage and exposure. Can you run it in a conduit? Have you considered using galvanized pipe for your outside supply?
PEX fittings are interchangeable among brands as long the the tubing in standard SDR-9 rated PEX.
Yes, i have not had any problems mixing and matching fitting and/ or pipe
I'm pretty sure PEX tubing is made with standard Inner Diameters and Outer Diameters. I have mixed and matched brands with no trouble and no leaks. Keep in mind I'm just a "do-it-yourselfer."
Yes they can Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4GLTE smartphone
Yes I used it because I ran out of viega for my domestic water
Yes. Pex pipe has standardized specs. Quality of pipe may vary from supplier to supplier but specs do not. So fittings will work for any pipe that has the same specs. However Pex fittings will not work for other pex standards such as pex-al-pex.
If the Zurn pipe is the same type, then yes i.e. A, B or C. PEX-A tubing is produced using Peroxide (or, “Engel”) method, named after the inventor Tomas Engel. During the manufacturing process, free radicals are created when HDPE polymer is melted and cross-links between molecules occur at temperatures that exceed the decomposition temperature of the polymer. Some of the manufacturers who make this type of PEX are: Uponor (former Wirsbo), Rehau and Mr. PEX. PEX-B is made using a "Silane" or "Moisture Cure" method of cross-linking, where links between the molecules of the HDPE form after the extrusion process using a catalyst and exposing PEX tubing to water. This type of PEX is the most common and is manufactured by a large number of companies, such as: Viega, Watts, Bow, Everhot, Zurn and many others. PEX-C is manufactured using “Electronic Irradiation” method of cross-linking, also known as "Cold" cross-linking. Here, cross-linking of the molecules is done after the process of extrusion by exposing the pipe to an electron radiation beam. The radiation emitted allows to break the existing links between molecules of the polymer and initiate cross-linking process. Some of the manufacturers are: Nibco, Roth, Cash-Acme.
I'm pretty sure you can, as long as the pipe diameter matches that of the fittings. I have used some Zurn fittings with the ViegaPex pipe, so they should work both ways.
yes
Yes they can. The dimensions are the same on both brands. Thanks, Roy Yoder
emphatically NO !! Use ONLY Viega "B" tubing for water, and Viega Fostapex for air, heat, water, etc., with Viega fittings. By the way, they are the very best fittings for pex that money can buy. I love them
Yes... not a problem. As long as they are both sdr9 rated. kpc
1/4" PEX has a .241" ID and a .375" OD. Crimp fittings are not available. You would need to use either compression or SharkBite fittings.
3/8" PEX does have a 1/2" OD. Its ID is .35" (not exactly 3/8") because PEX is thicker than copper.
PEX has not been rated for use with grease. It is not recommended.
Both AquaPEX and Viega will work for this application.
Each roll weighs 6 lbs and is 29" in diameter.
Each 500 foot roll of the 1/4" White ViegaPEX weighs 6 lbs and is 29" in diameter.
This tubing has not been tested under under those conditions or for solar applications.
