Description

Series 288A represents a complete line of vacuum breakers designed to prevent backsiphonage of contaminated water into a potable water supply.

They feature a lightweight, durable "disc float" suitable for temperatures up to 180°F (82°C) which closes the atmospheric vent to prevent spilling under all rates of flow. Therefore, they are ideally recommended for low flow installations such as laboratory equipment which use such a small amount of water. They also contain a durable silicone disc which has high heat and water hammer shock resistance and assures tight seating with the lightest of seating contact.

Full Size Orifice - Series 288A has a full-size orifice to assure pipe size capacity. Water passages are streamlined to provide high water flow with minimal pressure loss.

Incredible Service and Competitive Price

Product is used in a Hobart brand commercial dishwasher utilized in a vineyard tasting room. The Hobart parts list showed needed a 1/2" version of a certain valvle, but a 3/4" one was what we took out. By mistake I ordered the 1/2" version. Shipped it back, exchanged it for the 3/4". All very efficient and fast. Prompt service and gave a discount on the 3/4" valve to boot even though it was my error. In the future, I will always check Supply House FIRST!

Hard To Find Part

I tried to find this vacuum breaker at both heating and plumbing supply house's. Neither had a 1/2" size. Most supply house's only carry the 3/4" and 1" breaker. I can always count on Supplyhouse.com to have the parts I need and cant find. The best part is that they usually get the part to me in one day. I am going to buy more and more of my supply's from Supplyhouse.com.

This is exactly like the original vacuum breaker which made the replacement job easy and quick. No messing around with cutting new pieces - just remove and install.

Q: I have a fixture that does not have anti siphon and I want to install it next to a commod. Safe water line is PEX. Can I use this valve (in conjunction with required adapters) behind sheetrock wall to feed clean water to my fixture (and hence get my fixture pass anti siphon code in city of Fort Worth, Texas)?

The problem is that the valve sometimes needs servicing.

Not up to par with plumbing code But usually all mechanical devices should be accessible for servicing, such as access door or removable panel Sent from my iPad

from bottom to top, but there should be a flow arrow on the body of the vacuum breaker showing flow direction

To install, pipe so that the safe water supply goes into the bottom and out the top to the fixture that uses water. If the fixture is a tank or tub, the outlet pipe should end 6 inches above the highest point of the tank. This device should not be used in such a way that it is under back pressure, such as a lawn sprinkler system before the control valves.

From the bottom.

It feeds from the bottom then out the side. The arrow stamped in the metal (you can see it in the photo) indicates water flow.

This vacuum breaker meets all ASSE standards. Any further approvals that are necessary are based on specific location, so you would need to consult your local code.
