ASK A QUESTION

Q: To whom it may concern, I am a new home owner and I have a few of these red square headed ball valves on my my gas line going to both a natural gas hot water tank as well as natural gas heater. My question is how do you tell if it is in the ON or OFF position as there are NO arrows indicating gas flow direction, I know it needs to be perpendicular to the line to shut it off but with NO markings on the Square head how does one tell what position you are starting if its on of off ? Sincerely Cory

Turn the valve right to close, left to open. On this particular valve, the holes in the square head should be perpendicular to the direction of gas flow for the valve to be open.
