Very difficult to align without leaks.
The install for this filter was very easy. The gaskets in the 4 unions are thin. The upper and lower union pieces are not the same diameter so they make it easy for misalignment. If not aligned perfectly, these unions WILL leak.

Effective Filter with Caveats
I've used this filter in 4 systems recently in systems that have cast radiation. It is very effective in removing both ferrous & non-ferrous materials. It has some good features - horizontal/vertical installation & easy maintenance, isolation valves (if purchased with). But, I've have had an issue with the isolation valve design & leaks. The face surfaces rely on gaskets and there is little mating surface for it to seal against. It does specify in directions to keep the fittings aligned and don't over tighten - even then I've had failures. The gasket is easily dragged along with the nut if it isn't perfectly seated. I have contemplated using a different gasket but that changes the liability.
