The freezeless Woodford Model 14 is designed and intended for year-round residential irrigation purposes regardless of outside temperature. This faucet will not rupture from freezing when the valve is shut off and the hose is removed.

I love that this is not the anti-siphon facuet
A few years ago my husband replaced our outside garden faucet with the newer anti-siphon type. I hated if from the first moment I used it. I had to wait for the entire hose to fill with water each time I turned on the hose and then when I wanted to roll the hose up, I once again had to wait for the entire hose to empy of water as it glug, glug glugged. I hated it. It turned a few minutes of watering our outside plants into a frustrating experience the took two or three times as long, just to water the plants.
I LOVE having a facuet with out the glug, glug. I am tempted to order a few more, in case one of our other outside facuets go bad. Never again will I buy one of the anti-siphon ones.

The wall flange is plastic.
The flange that fastens to the wall is plastic and is loosely attached to the stem. I assume it is designed this way in order to allow flex to the slant of clapboard siding. I have two concerns:
1. The loose fit will allow moisture to migrate behind it and cause rot. I used a caulk behind it.
2. Plastic doesn't seem to last when exposed to the sun. It typically hardens/ gets brittle with time.

Bought 2 so far...
I have inadvertently left the water on to an outdoor spigot in 2 of the last 4 years in the winter. Both times, the spigot froze and ruptured the pipe. You'd think I'd learn by now.

I installed five of these freeze protected faucets in the course of an extensive plumbing renovation. They work like how you expect a faucet to work. However, one unit had an unsoldered valve seat, a problem that I didn't discover until over a year after installation, because I just never used that particular faucet, and it only sprayed water into the wall cavity when the valve was opened. Not the disaster it could have been, given my particular situation. Supplyhouse replaced the defective unit, even though it was out of their warrantee, and they made it easy, so this is more of a rec for Supplyhouse than the faucet.
