Seems to be a good pump at a good price

There's not much to comment on. The pump was as described, shipped fast and worked as expected out of the box.

completely satisfied

I have one of these in my 25 foot long by 4 foot high evaporative cooling walls for my 30x60 greenhouse. I bought this second one for my 16x5x5 inground tilapia tank centered in the greenhouse. This pump waters all my vertical growing vegetables and recirculates back to the lined fish tank.

Great pump for certain applications

This is a well made pump that I feel will last much longer than the brands at the big box hardware stores. I am using this for pumping out boats at our marina after it rains, and for using river water to wash down our docks, and it is working quite well.

Great pump for the price

I had really good luck with this pump. It's fast and quiet - a good deal for the money. Be sure you read the instructions - it has a bypass port that spits out water continually while pumping (it apparently cools the pump) that seems like a leak, but isn't. I could have wished for a slightly longer cord for tasks like de-watering pool covers, but otherwise it works great. One thing not mentioned in the description - it has a metal plate that retains the cord in the pump body, as strain relief. I wouldn't swing it around like a kid's toy, but I'm confident it will hold up over time even lifting it by the cord a lot.

Well built for the money.

Used to clean tankless water heaters. Worked great. Probably has over 60hrs of operation on it since buying it and it still works great.

Model 44 Rainbarrel Pumper

The Model 44 is a perfect match for pumping rain water from my twin coupled, 80 gallon rain barrels! As a fully submersible pump, I have suspended the pump two inches above the bottom of a barrel. This eliminates any clogging of the screen on the bottom of the pump. After manually timing the pump-out time for different full levels, I then safely connect the pump's electrical plug to an electric timer which pumps two soaker hoses in my vegetable and flower gardens. This continues until the water levels in the barrels are just above the two-inch mark. This protects the pump from damage due to a lack of water as well as limits the pumping time to 45 minutes max. I've used this system over six times this summer and have been very pleased with consistant results. The pump is not designed for lengthy usage. I recommend using the pump no longer than 30 minutes straight per couple of hours or more. It has served me well and the pump has not shown any decrease in performance thus far.

Product Q&A

ASK A QUESTION

Q: Some models say they should not be used on a dry surface. Do you have to make sure to unplug this one once you've drained the water from your basement down to the 1/8" level, so it doesn't overheat? Also, do you have any utility pumps that will run on gas? We rarely get enough water in our basement to need to pump it -- but when we do, it's often combined with a power outage. Great site, BTW -- lots of comprehensive information.

Utility pumps should not be used continuously and must be unplugged after each use. Unfortunately we do not carry any gas-powered utility pumps.

I have a PEX Model 44 and as I understand it, if there is not enough water to pump it will shot off and then sample at some interval and pump if there is sufficient water. In any case, I have had one running for 24 hours now it and it does not appear to be hot.

Q: I have a slow seeping leak coming up from the basement floor. It only seeps in one area. Can I put this pump on the floor with a timer and expect results ? Thank you
