We used it on a previous project to collect pets hair, at a grooming salon. it is installed underground and connects to the sanitary drain line. It works like a grease trap, but it is designed for solids, like hair.
It is more like a settling tank and ONLY appropriate for solids that do not contain fats or grease. So wash water for plaster or residue of cleanup coming from dirt and such.
Yes it is. We first saw this on a commercial job installed in a kitchen. Does it meet the requirements for a grease trap, that is something I can not answer. The commercial job installed it to reduce the solids getting past the sink. We use it to slow the solids going out our waste line under our sink. We have to clean it weekly. We are cleaning out paint rollers in a mop sink. Hope this helps. Dean Everroad Vice President First Step Property Services
interceptor traps the solid waste whilst the grease trap traps the grease.my operation is a poultry slaughter house and I have no idea why the health department wants both.the grease trap is better because it can trap the grease and the solid.the interceptor is too small to do the same.
