Versatile, Easy Install, Large Display

By Keith

Comments about FocusPro Non-Programmable, 2H/2C Thermostat:

Bought this tstat to control heat pump (1-stage with aux heat)as contractor installed exact one with new 2-stage furnace/AC. Versatile as can be used on almost any setup. LED screen bright, numbers large - don't need to pay extra for 1029 model (those who complain LED not bright must not have installed 24VAC common, relying on AA batteries). Program setup is easy. Bought nonprogrammable to "set it and forget it." Can't beat 5-yr warranty as almost identical DIY model costs same at box store and carries 1-yr warranty. Highly recommend tstat.

This is my 4th Honeywell TH220D1003 5000 series thermostat. I use them in my green houses to control the propane heaters and the cooling fans and vents. It works great, durable and easy to install. I will buy another for my 5th greenhouse next season. Thanks, Doug

Comments about FocusPro Non-Programmable, 2H/2C Thermostat:

I searched far and wide for a tstat for a 2 stage furnace. Customer wanted non programmable, digital, and simple to read and use. Not only was it easy to find one on their website, but it was also the best price on the web. It was easy to place the order and I received timely updates on the progress of the order and it shipped for a fair price. The Honeywell stat was easy to install and works very well. Thank you!!

Installation and set-up a snap

By Novice installer

Comments about FocusPro Non-Programmable, 2H/2C Thermostat:

After a little research, I decided on this product to replace the existing thermostat on my heat pump with aux. heat. The instructions were easy to understand, and hook up/set-up straight forward. The main issue was figuring out whether my change valve energized in heat or cool mode, which did not take long. The display is easy to read even at a distance, and operation a breeze. Would highly recommend this unit if you are looking for a no frills manual change thermostat.

Large L.E.D display, lighted with the touch of any button. Powered by 24 volts from A/C unit or two AA batteries if you don't have enough thermostat wires. The best thing about this thermostat is that it works on just about any HVAC system.

    Q:

once the temp reaches the set temp how long should it take for the system to shut off also how do set the stat to shut of by setting 1degree difference
Asked on 7/15/2013 by slick from florence ky

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

      No easy answer.
It's not instantaneous when the temp first reads the same as the set point on the stat.
Then when the stat shuts off, other chips in your system will time shut down of the compressor and then the blower.

      A:

Yes it will. You will need to 1st enable the auto-changeover feature in the installer menu. Change sub-menu 12 to selection 1. For a heat pump set-up. I would recommend at least 7 wires. 8 if you need an extra emergency heat wire.

      A:

You can set it for auto change over or manual. It depends for the wiring if you will use the battery or power it with 24v and how many stages you have.. Maximum you will need 8 wires.

    Q:

I have had this model in our home for 5 yrs and has given us good service, until now. The fan stays on all the time. Does not go off when heating range is reached.
Do I need a new (I'd buy if have to) or it is just a miner tweak or torque I could perform. Please advise.
    Thank you,

If it has worked for five years and nothing else has changed, then it probably needs to be replaced. But first, try reprogramming it to see if that corrects the problem.

    Q:

can this be programed so renters can only use a certain temp. range ie 68-78 degrees?
    Asked on 2/24/2011 by Anonymous

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

You can use Setup Functions 27 and 28 to do this (see page 7 of the manual - http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1249544874360/Honeywell_TH5220D1003_Install_Guide.pdf ), but there would be nothing to stop someone from changing that setting. Your other option would be to get programmable thermostats with keypad lockout capability.

YES - You can specify a High Limit on the heat, and a Low Limit on the AC, if applicable. Wondering if this is a Good Idea.

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

Yes, this thermostat has settings for the minimum cool and maximum heat setpoints. I never thought of using it for rentals like that, but it is a good idea to keep them from setting it at 60 and letting it run.

  • FocusPro Non-Programmable, 2H/2C Thermostat

    Q:

What is the difference between Heat and Emheat mode on the Honeywell TH5220D 1003 Thermostat with the American Standard heat pump? What does Compressor lock out do, is it economical to do it?
Asked on 12/3/2010 by Bob from Athens, AL

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

HEAT Mode is Regular Heat Stage #1, while EMHEAT is Stage #2 of Multi-Stage Stat. The Compressor Lock Out is a safety feature that protects your system. It is not a function that you do, as this feature works automatically on its own.
