Nice Thermometers!

I bought these to install on the heat runs for radiant floor heat. I installed them on bare 1" copper pipe. The installl took maybe a minute for both thermometers. No sure of the accuracy because they are contact temperature of the pipe. Adding a little pipe insulation around the thermometrs seems to help. But to get the temperature difference of supply and return these will work great.

WORTHLESS

I bought two of these. Three foot away from the hot side of boiler reading 190 on 1 1/4 copper it reads 120. 100 ft downstream on the same pipe the other unit reads 120. It is on very tight on new pipe in both locations. It is pretty though.

Works decent, lousy shipping

Gauge works alright, off by about 5*F on 2" copper. I wasn't expecting it to be perfect so it works for me. Don't expect to get it anytime soon by paying for 2 day shipping, still took 7 days to arrive.

Accuracy

Bought the five pack and before using them I had them all on the same water pipe overnite. All 5 basically read the same temp within a couple of degrees HOWEVER, when I benchmarked them against a known temperature, they appeared to read approx 10-15% higher than actual. So if accuracy is vital, I would reco going with another more sophisticated product.

Works as expected

The temperature reading is accurate, but the thermometer itself is made entirely of plastic and is therefore quite overpriced.

Product works great

I use this product to see the supply and return temperatues on our baseboard hotwater system. I have found no problem with the product and have been using them for over a year.

Not satisfied.

This is the second inaccurate thermometer I have received from Pex Supply. This unit does not advance beyond 120F. I have an accurate meter to verify the readings.

Poor Accuracy

These guages are not very accurate even with the use of thermal grease. They read significantly lower temperatures when the water temperatures are above 160 degrees. They are easily moved when positioned. The only nice feature is that they can be moved to deterrmine relative temperatures in a system.

Strap-ons are OK

I ordered five, three worked OK, two refunded promptly. The three don't jibe exactly, but are certainly close enough for what they're for.

accuracy

After 2 weeks on backorder, I received an "updated" version of this unit. The temperature scale reads from 0F to 248F, unlike the original unit.. 70F to 200F, and the maximum pipe-fit diameter decreased a lot. When strapped directly next to the temperature gauge on my heating boiler that read 190F, this unit read 140F.. so I question the accuracy of using this or ANY strap-on style thermometer. Maybe the pipes do not get as hot as the water inside, since the surrounding air is so much cooler. Who knows for sure?

Great product

I use this on my hot water solar system. It is proving to be the excellent indicator that I need to fine tune the adjustments I need to make to the system.

This thermometer can be used on both PEX and metal pipe.

This unit will read the temperature on the SURFACE of anything that it's strapped on to. The temperature INSIDE the piping may be significantly different. If the pipe material doesn't conduct "heat" very well, the readings may be meaningless.

Will not work well with plastic pipe (plastics have poor conductivity) but will work well with metal pipe.

It can be, and is, used on either or both.
