Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat, 4H/2C

Easy to install and works great

This thermostat replaced an older White Rogers thermostat we had. The Sensi is sharp looking, provides easy to use controls and is WiFi accessible from anywhere we are. The large display is easy to read and the buttons also large and responsive. The configuration was pretty straight forward. Supply House delivered the thermostat within 1 day of placing the order - Excellent! The only gripe I have, is sometimes the Sensi server is down and then you cannot access the thermostat remotely - I hope they improve the remote reliability to be 99.9% available - as it should be.

Very easy to install. Don't need the C wire. I had a little trouble setting up my account and getting the thermostat to recognize my WiFi, (mostly user error) but once you have cell phone access, look at U-tube videos to do the final set-up. Mostly easy, for a non-tech person like me, took a little time to learn, but now extremely happy. The thermostat is amazing at setting multiple schedules.

Contractor did the wiring to an old, formerly 2-wire, gas furnace. I did the programming, which was very easy and just took a of couple minutes. We have baseboard hot water heating so room temperature changes with thermostat adjustments are relatively slow. Flexible scheduling program interface allows user to anticipate this and plan ahead, e.g., before arriving home from a trip or dialing up well before awakening. After one month no problems with losing wifi signal. Wish that there was an app for my iPad, but apparently none are available.

I purchased this thermostat to monitor my heating system while on vacation. The 2 stage feature works well to control my primary heating system and then bring on my back-up boiler (stage 2) if the primary fails. It is extremely easy to install and program. The wi-fi works perfectly and has full remote functionality via smart phone or PC. The only down side is the lack of technical information which wouldn't concern most people. I would like to know exactly how the stage 2 differential is calculated and also when the temporary override times out. It does not time out at the next scheduled event as with most thermostats. Also how are cycle rates and durations calculated and adjusted? Other than my couple of questions I am extremely pleased. I just purchased and installed 2 more for friends. Note that for a single stage "heating only" system you need a minimum of 3 conductors because a C (common) wire must be connected. This could pose a problem for some people because a "common" wire is not readily available on some systems.
