Fixed my problem
I have an American Standard gas water heater. I couldn't get parts for it locally. Supply House had the part I needed and got it to me quickly.

This was essentially the same thermostat, but it should've been a 2" Foam Nat, instead of a 1" Foam Nat, which you sent me. The part was too short, and could not be screwed back into the hot water heater.
