I needed to replace the inner housing and ionizer frame assembly for an Aprilaire 5000 air cleaner. Supply House had both items at a competitive price. The items were shipped quickly and packaged well.

The original frame assembly finally gave out after 14years. I replaced it with the new ionizer and everything is back they way it should be. By the way, excellent service by Supply House. Received the item in ONE day.

It's important to carefully clean these units when you're replacing the filter media, particularly if you live in a damp climate. Remove and thoroughly clean this entire assembly regularly, particularly around where the 9 wire ends clip into the plastic frame, and all the metal contacts. Carefully unclip each wire from the frame and mechanically remove any rust or corrosion; in severe cases you might also apply a bit of electrician's dielectric (non-conductive) grease, which unfortunately can collect dust over time. Tiny metallic dendrites can grow on the surface of the plastic frame, creating an electrical leakage path which can eventually draw enough current to cause the front cover power unit to fail (no more blue light under the label when switched ON). After 4 years of operation this happened to our unit, which had to be completely replaced under warranty. This is a fundamental weakness in the design of these electrostatic air cleaners. The stainless steel eyelets that are crimped onto both ends of the 26" tungsten wires are subject to galvanic corrosion and rust when exposed to moisture and charged with high voltage. Over time, a corroded wire can come loose from its eyelet and touch the aluminum mesh, shorting out the unit. These special wires are sold individually or in pairs and are expensive to replace, in the long run it's more cost-effective to replace the entire Ionizer Frame Assembly (which comes with a complete set of 9 new wires installed). That approach is less expensive than having to replace a shorted-out front cover power unit.
