Excellent customer service! Solved NYC soft water problem!
I recently purchased the Aprilaire 800 steam humidifier to replace table top high maintenance humidifiers used in prior years. Once activated, the Aprilaire just didn't produce steam. Amprobe showed very low current draw to the electrodes. First call to SupplyHouse tech - very supportive, linked in Aprilaire technical support. A few minutes on the phone with Aprilaire and we confirmed NYC soft water was low conductivity and required the LC cartridge. SupplyHouse support was outstanding... LC cartridge received next day, unit up and running perfectly within minutes.
Comments on Aprilaire 800 Steam humidifier - it has been up and running for weeks now and supplies ample humidity for the entire house, using a forced air heating system. Several cold dry days including down into the teens and the 28000 sq ft house is remaining comfortable with much improved humidity level. Huge improvement over the prior tabletop humidifiers; previously used both steam and ultrasonic tabletops. All of the maintenance eliminated; no more refilling water tanks, wiping up condensation which pooled on the floor, cleaning the mineral deposits out of the tabletop humidifiers, removing growth from the ultrasonic humidifiers. The Aprilaire cleans itself periodically. It will require a cartridge change annually, but that is a known cost and just a few minute change action.
Comment on the documentation - Aprilaire could improve its product documentation by clearly citing known challenges to water conductivity and hence steam production. NYC has very soft low conductivity water. Once I read consumer comments on the replacement 800LC cartridge I found the issue was very clearly discussed in the replacement cartridge forum.

This canister is not producing enough steam to effect the humidity in the house. I have tried all suggestions in the troubleshooting manual with no change. I have changed canisters a number of times before, and they always worked great. Don't know what happened to this one.
