Description

Solventum (Aqua-Pure) N-050P Neutralizer for Filter Media
A blended whole-house filter media used in compatible backwashing water treatment systems to neutralize highly acidic/low-pH water to a more neutral, less corrosive level.

Key Features:
  • Blended neutralizer media made from calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide.
  • Intended to neutralize highly acidic/low-pH water to a more neutral, less corrosive effluent.
  • Manufacturer-stated benefits include helping prevent pinhole leaks/pipe failure, reducing metallic taste from acidity, and helping reduce potential leaching of metals in plumbing systems with pH-corrected water.
  • Reduction claim items listed: copper, lead, acidic condensate, and bad taste & odor.
  • Pack size/format: 0.5 cubic feet of media; 43 lb pail.

Compatibility & Applications:
  • Used with: 3MCBF.
  • Described for residential and commercial applications for highly acidic water and for use in backwash filter systems.
  • Must only be used where the manufacturer specifies this exact part number: N-050P.

Installation & Operation Notes:
  • Installation/refill should be performed by a qualified water treatment professional (or per the water treatment system manufacturer's instructions) and should follow the system's service/installation manual.
  • Periodic backwashing in a compatible system helps prevent packing of the media bed and helps maintain service levels.
  • A gravel under-bed is recommended to support the N-050P filter media.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • The N-050P media is consumed over time and will need to be replenished periodically; replenishment rate depends on factors including pH levels, backwash frequency, and filter system capacity.
  • Signs of acidic water include corrosion of fixtures, blue staining (from copper pipes), rust staining (from iron pipes), pinhole leaks/pipe failure over time, and metallic taste in water/drinks.
  • If acidic-water symptoms persist, verify the media bed is not depleted and that the backwash schedule/system operation aligns with the equipment documentation; replace/replenish media as directed for the specific system.

User Reviews & Q&A Summary:
  • Reviews most often report effective pH correction and corrosion protection in well/whole-house setups, with multiple customers noting it performs like higher-priced service-company refill media.
  • Several reviewers highlight less "fines"/cloudiness than some alternatives and describe the system clearing quickly after refill and backwash.
  • Purchasing themes are consistently positive (availability, pricing, and fast shipping), with occasional comments about heavy pails/packaging.
  • Q&A themes: the media is described as pelletized/gravel-like (pea-to-grape size), and customers confirm the pail size/weight as 0.5 cubic feet and 43 lbs; ratio details are not provided on the product page and are instead referenced by support via a separate document.

Excellent Product and I have no words to describe the price

I let my acid neutralizer maintenance go for about five years because the company that sold me my neutralizer and softener were bought out by a company whose name starts with a "C" and rhymes with Mulligan. I reflexively reject calls from that company because of a bad experience from many many years ago. When I finally realized that the sale had happened and that rejecting those calls meant that I was not servicing my unit, I sheepishly did some online research on what the annual service calls addressed. I had watched the techs do their maintenance work on service calls before, and the online information matched and made perfect sense. I bought two buckets of this media to get free shipping, it arrived on-time, and I followed instructions I found online to fill my neutralizer with space to spare to accommodate the backwash cycle. The media is nowhere near as powdery as what the servicing company would use to refill, and the amount I used to make up for the five years of missed maintenance cost less than a quarter of what I had been paying for annual maintenance calls. Our water is much softer than it was before I added this media since low pH inhibited the softener from doing its thing. Happy wife, happy life! What is left of the two buckets I bought should be enough to keep my system working for the next fifteen years. Thank you to SupplyHouse for making these products available to us non-contractors at a fair price. The minor complaint I have about this order is that the buckets were packaged in cardboard boxes. The UPS driver and I both said that the cardboard made no sense since the cartons collapsed from the weight of the buckets. The driver said he is used to delivering sealed buckets not in cardboard boxes and would prefer to move buckets around his truck by their integrated handles.

Ph control for potable Water

This product is blend of calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide. According to the 3M MSDS data sheet it is premixed at a ratio of anywhere from 70/30% to 85/15%. Magnesium oxide is aka Flomag or Corosex and in high percentages, Flomag will dramatically raise your water Ph much faster than calcium carbonate alone. Suggest that purchasers google the available online data sheets to prevent over buffering their potable water Ph.

Way too fine. Not what I needed. Makes sense why it's cheap. My error on ordering wrong product.

Works like a charm

I use it to reduce the acidity/raise the ph. Worked great, allows my iron filter to do remove the red.

3M makes great products this is one of them

This is a great pH buffer if your pH is a 6.0 or less. If your pH is above a 6.0 Id go with just a calcite buffer (3m C-050p). My pH went from a 4.5 to an 8 which is in spec with state guidelines.

I would buy this product again

The right product at a competitive price and shipped on time. I would prefer however a 1/2 size bucket since that is the amount I use at one time.
