Description

Use this Retrofitting Guide to verify that your existing baseboard heaters will fit the one-size-fits-most baseboard heater cover replacements.

NOTE: For Hydronic Baseboards
  • Made of 22 gauge perforate steel.
  • Features TWO separate layers of protection against rust: an electroplated galvanized coating over the carbon steel and an epoxy-based powder coat in semi-gloss white.
  • Designed to retrofit on to most existing baseboard heater covers.
  • Superior Airflow... Airflow is the critical factor in proper baseboard heating. We use a perforated steel screen that visually hides the originally installed heater cover while ensuring that the heating element receives proper airflow.
  • Child Safe... The dangers associated with hot finned tube heating elements are well known. Our child safe design doesn't allow for little fingers or small flammable toys to be placed inside the heater cover.
  • Simple to Install... It just doesn't get any easier. Only the non-permanent components of the existing heater cover are discarded. The back cover that is mechanically fastened to the wall stays in place.

Perfect Product

Used in bathroom to hide old rusty baseboard. This product hides the old and looks beautiful. Hopefully with good care, it will stay looking great for years!

Nice but expensive

I chose this product for the simple installation & design. However, the price is too high to use in every room and altering the size for custom lengths & heights is not as easy as it looks.

Excellent option for upgrade

I am replacing my 50-year-old solid baseboard covers in my home. They are an attractive and efficient option for an upgrade. I like the maintenance free finish after 50 years of repainting my old covers every time we paint a room. I appreciate the availability of this product through SupplyHouse, as well as their very fast shipping.

I love these replacements

I am replacing baseboard covers one room at a time. They are more efficient than the solid covers I had previously. They also look nice in any room. I still have 4 rooms left, but I will keep working on it. The quality is exceptional.

Piece Of Cake That Easy To Install

Just by watching a Youtube video this is what I needed to replace a broken 50 year old furnace cover and endcaps that you no longer can get . I took the cover right out of the box made sure I got the right measurements down before cutting two inches off and the whole thing snapped together like a puzzle . It took no more than 30 minutes of completing the project that it all was just a piece of cake Thank You Supplyhouse .

I love these replacements

I am trying to replace all my heater covers with these perforated covers. The heat spreads into the room more, the coating is easy to clean, and they never need painting. No maintenance.

Q: the height of my baseboard heaters is 7 inches and the cover states it should buy at least 7 and 1 half inches. Will this work on my heaters

These should fit. They are compatible with all standard baseboard heaters.

There are wall clips available which should work well in your case. I would buy one for each sixteen inches (fasten to wall at stud locations) plus one for each end.

Q: Do the end pieces come with the baseboard heater cover? I can find no place where the info says anything about this, yet in the video and in the picture in the magazine ad the ends look fresh and new. They also get grungy and rusted after all.

The end pieces and other accessories must be purchased separately.

You will need to purchase the end caps separately.

No, you have to order the end pieces separately. Be careful to order 'open' end or 'closed' end.

Q: My problem is the depth from the wall to the fins, at its widest is 3 3/4 inches. It is a 4 foot section of baseboard but due to plumbing issue the fins start out at a depth of 3 inches but come out to 3 3/4 inches. Could your cover still be used?

These should work if you are referring to the distance between the wall and the front of the fins. If there is a 3 + inch gap of empty space between the wall and the start of the fins, this product will not work for you.

Q: In the living room as part of the heating system there is a knob and also next to it a motor (covered by a box with lid)-- the both are attached to the copper pipe at the floor level and currently covered by the existing fin cover. To turn the knob and to get at the motor one can do this by reaching the hand through the existing fin cover. How would we get at this through the covers you sell?

You would have to cut a hole in the cover or remove it.

These covers are designed for use with hydronic baseboards.

Q: I assume that the Baseboard Heat Cover effects heat distribution in some way given that it is an all-over pierced vent design. Two questions: 1. Please explain how it effects heat distribution. 2. What is the best position for the fins when using the Baseboard Heat Cover? Thank you.

Asked by BAB, New owner of old home 15 years ago

The design of these covers will have a negligible effect on heat distribution, as most heat will be released from the top portion of the cover. Nothing forces hot air through through the upper clearances on a traditional baseboard, either. The heat will start to rise as soon as it leaves the fins and will continue to do so after it passes through the cover. There is no reason to alter the position of the fins. A far more important consideration is to ensure that there are 18" of clearance in front of the baseboards.

Q: Is there only one length, i.e. three feet? I have varying lengths. Does Home Depot or other stores carry these heater covers?

The covers can be purchased in 3', 4', 5', 6', or 7' sections. Custom cutting is also available.

Q: Does this product prevent hot to the touch? Or is merley just for looks? I had a hose to a vaccuum cleaner melt last year from being pushed up against the heater. I'm trying to come up with an idea to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.

Basically, the design of the baseboard heater cover prevents anything from touching the heating element. They still will get hot, but probably not as hot as the original covers. We sense that you may have electric heaters because hot water baseboard doesn't get anywhere near hot enough to melt plastic. This product will work with electric, but is not intended for use with electric. Wall brackets often have to be used for mounting over electric heaters. For more information regarding your question, please visit this link: http://baseboardheatercovers.com/child_safety.html

Q: I have installed new, thicker carpeting, which is butting up against the heater cover, cutting off the air flow through the baseboard heater. If I were to remove all parts of the old baseboard cover, can I install your product, which I assume would create the necessary air flow through your cover as opposed to coming up from the bottom of the cover?

Yes, you are correct.

Q: I am remodeling my bathroom. The new cabinet door (hinges on right) will not open completely due to the baseboard heater. Can I obtain a heater cover (less than 3 ft. in length) and left end-cap that is 4 1/2 inches in height (from floor)so cabinet door can clear the baseboard when it is fully open?

Unfortunately, we do not have heater covers that low in height.
