I kept one of my radiators when I redid my heating system and refurbished and installed it in my garage. I wanted to keep the same style control valve as the original valve and found it at SupplyHouse. The valve looks great with my 90 year old radiator.

Wish I had read the reviews; these valves do not shut tight!
While I had my hydronic system drained, I installed three of these "valves" to isolate radiators for later removal. Luckily I was pressure testing the system with one radiator removed and found I could not pressurize the system. The new, exposed valve would not seal off air flow. I later checked a valve by itself with water to verify this was not some quirk of air leaking past a watertight seal; it was not. I had bought these valves specifically to allow me to isolate the outlet side of radiators for easy removal of the radiators during the heating season. These valves do not seal. Look elsewhere!

Q: Can the valve be disassembled? Speciffically the top piece below the packing nut. I'm looking for a valve that will allow me access to replace the shut off washer without replacing the whole valve everytime the nylon washer fails. THANKS. Please note I realize there is a bolt head there but I have never been able to get one to turn.

It is not intended to be disassembled but could be done potentially.

Q: I am replacing an old radiator valve that has 1" measured female threads on the bottom and 1.3" measured male threads on the union side. From what I understand, 1" measured threads means 3/4" pipe size, and 1.3" measured threads means 1" measured pipe size. So do I need a 3/4" valve or a 1" valve?

You would purchase a valve that matches the pipe size, so 3/4".
