Excellent ordering assistance

I wasn't sure what I needed here for a well pump tank tee I was installing and I didn't have the time to search through the selections (it was close to the 6:00 pm - next day delivery deadline). Thank you for being willing to recommend this one - it was an excellent solution. I added a 1" brass EL, IPS Male x Female, to head things in the right direction, but it would have done fine just by itself - with the polypropylene pipe adapter (1" barbed x IPS Male) that I needed regardless. Thanks for your assistance and for answering all my questions!

Very, very noisy in my Weil-McLain Ultra Boiler application

I recently replaced a Weil McLain series 1 Ultra Boiler with a new series 4 Ultra Boiler sourced from SupplyHouse. FYI, the Ultra Boiler requires a piping scheme which hydraulically isolates the main boiler loop from all zone loops. However, as you might expect, the hydraulic separation is not perfect, so the zone circulators can and do cause pressure fluctuations in the main boiler loop. These pressure fluctuations cause this check valve, which is installed in the main boiler loop, to rattle like crazy, especially when the boiler cycles down and main boiler loop shuts off but a zone loop circulator (or circulators) continue operating. I suspect that the spring in this check valve is not sufficiently strong to not be affected by the interactions between the main boiler loop and the zone loop(s). In the old series 1 installation I used an oversized massive 1 1/2" Watts check valve mounted vertically and never had a problem with chattering caused by loop interaction. To remedy the chattering problem, I am reinstalling the old Watts check valve which is still in perfect shape even after approx. 21 years of service.

worked as planned!

After installing an Emporia Vue energy monitoring system in my home, I learned that our 5 kW electric hot water heater was cycling on every 45 minutes, 24/7, even when if we hadn't used a drop of hot water. The thermal losses were caused by a convection flow around the domestic hot water recirculating loop. Google AI recommended I use this valve, which I did, and it worked perfectly. This small change will save us about $700 per year in electricity. On minimal use days, the heater now cycles on once a day, really happy with the results.

Great Quality Worth It

Very Happy With These I Buy Them By The Box. Great Quality Worth The Price. I Have yet to have Any Issues With The Spring Check Valves Themselves.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: Which check valves would more greatly reduce water flow, 1/2" spring loaded check valve, or a 1/2" swing check valve? I am building a prototype for a machine, and need a check valve that will effectively prevent back flow, but not one that will significantly reduce water pressure coming out of the valve. The water flow in this case will be flowing vertically. Thanks!

The spring check valve would probably reduce flow by a lesser amount. Additionally, you would need to use a spring check valve with vertical water flow.

The valves work in any orientation, but a vertical installation would be preferable.

Yes. Even a small pump will easily lift this spring check. There will be minor pressure losses, however.
