BrassCraft’s ProCoat stainless steel gas connector is engineered with added safety in mind. The proprietary polymer coating is designed to withstand prolonged exposure to harsh household chemicals, UV rays and salt. ProCoat is applied to the corrugated stainless steel connector using advanced powder-coat technology. Unlike conventional dipped or sprayed coatings, the ProCoat coating is baked directly onto the connector surface at high temperatures to provide a uniform coating over the entire length of the connector. The coating is applied only after the connector has been 100% leak tested, prior to nut and fitting assembly. This process results in the most complete corrosion resistance available. *Gas connectors may not be permitted for all uses in all locations. Consult with a professional installation expert or a plumber to ensure compliance with all applicable codes.

Good quality yellow coated connector for the $
These Brasscraft appliance connectors(we call them gas flexes) are of good quality and are a great price on Supplyhouse.com. Being able to choose your flare fittings(1/2" or 3/4") is important and eliminates the purchase of parts. This 6' was used for an oven that had the connection up along the side near the top of the appliance necessitating the need for something longer than the typical 4' one used on 95% of most ovens. As an oven needs to be pulled out to service or clean behind you have to leave extra in order to pull it out to climb behind.

Beware of the flare size
In using this gas flex, pay attention to the size of swivel nut on both sides of the fitting. These swivels appear to be 11/16": I purchased a brass 5/8" flare x 3/4" FIP fitting for my water heater, and a 5/8" flare x 3/4" MIP fitting for the gas valve, and they both did not match the swivel nuts on the gas flex. I then purchased the 3/4" flare versions of both fittings, and now they were too large for the swivels. So, Brasscraft apparently uses swivels that require a 11/16" flare, which Supplyhouse does not carry. I can use the 11/16" flare x 3/4" adapter supplied with the flex for my gas valve, but I will have to use a 3/4" x 1/2" brass reducing coupling from my water heater to work with the supplied 11/16" flare x 1/2" MIP adapter.

Worked just fine
I ordered this with FIP Ball Valve at one end and MIP at the other. Those connections are really adapters which have the FIP and MIP threads on one end and a flare type fitting on the other---where the yellow flex connects. So, you can thread the adapters onto your piping and then use the flare connections to put it together---the flares act as a sort of "union". People who have used this before know this but I didn't---until now.

Q: The fittings on this connector are listed as 3/4" MIP, but they also have internal threads according to the photo. Are the internal threads 1/2" FIP? I'm looking for a 1/2" ID minimum gas supply for my new gas range. Does this fit the bill?
