Fixed the boiler error code but you may also need a venturi

It must be common that the fan motor tach dies because there is considerable message board discussion.about it. This fixed my error 3C-217 - the Buderus tech said it should fix it at least 90% of the time. Too bad the electronics can't be purchased separately... One tip - you have to move the plastic venturi from the old fan to the new one. The plastic on mine had gotten very brittle and the two retaining clips both broke off, even with reasonable care. The friction fit of the air horn worked to hold the venturi in for a few days until the new one I ordered arrived.

Don't forget to order a venturi!

First, order a venturi when you order the blower! Unless it's not too old, it's probably that the tabs that hold the venturi in the blower will snap off when you take it out. Second, I'm replacing a perfectly good fan because the tachometer in it failed. I would much rather be replacing a $35 - 50 hall sensor but that's not an option. Poor design. Finally, it would be nice if the error code indicating this particular problem was included in the manual. Thankfully, others have figured it out and I was able to search for the problem online and find out what the codes were and how to fix the problem. Ultimately, reviewing a part for a boiler is like reviewing a car part: You really don't know how well it works until it doesn't anymore so this review is more about the overall design of the boiler and the manual. I hope Buderus is listening!

It blows

Error code 3C-217 on Buderus GB142 boiler. Old combustion air fan was operating but apparently not sending proper signal from internal tachometer to computer. Replacement of fan was reasonably straightforward and was effective at eliminating the problem.

On time and good price!

My repair company (the original installers) quoted double the price and a 6 week turnaround. I had this part in 48 hours and installed a day later, for half the quoted price.

SupplyHouse 5-*, design not: seal on motor shaft fails

SupplyHouse provides an OEM blower. No complaints there. Use a flashlight to look in the gap between the motor housing and the aluminum blower housing on your unit. I smelled propane briefly at startup, hunted it down, and saw a failed shaft seal -- that can't be replaced. On *2* of these blowers, the original and the 2 y/o replacement.

Authentic oe parts

Exact replacement for my Buderis boiler. Had an error code and noticed the exhaust blower was seized up. The unit was delivered in 2 days, would've been one had I ordered earlier in the day.

Thank goodness for Supply House

My boiler was fried by a horrific power surge. My repair company said it would take two weeks to get one of the parts to even turn it on. No hot water, thank goodness it's summer. I ordered the part from Supply House and received it in two days.

Blower works as expected and came with almost everything..

Delivery speed is great UNLESS you order on a Friday. Would be awesome if Saturday delivery was available as a premium option. If your heater goes out Friday, the fan won't be delivered until Monday (late in my location) and installed on Tuesday. Other comment on this blower that I read on other sites was to order a replacement venturi when you replace the blower because it will likely break when you remove it to replace the blower. That happened to me also. Venturi was brittle and gaskets were cracked/broken when I removed it. Save yourself another couple of days and replace the venturi with the blower.

I have purchased several of these over the years.

I have 7 Boderus boilers that all use this same blower fan. I always keep a spare on hand. Supply House makes it easy!
