• Steel couplings... At Burnham we use steel couplings called "nipples" to join our cast iron sections. Steel nipples increase the longevity of your boiler. They are not affected by petroleum based chemicals, including antifreeze, which can deteriorate the cheaper rubber type gaskets substituted for steel push nipples in some competitors' boilers.
