The Cummins RA212N3 Automatic Transfer Switch is an efficient and reliable solution for seamless power management, keeping your home or business operational during outages.
The Nema 3R enclosure is made from a very heavy gauge aluminum with a high-quality powder coat finish. Access screws even have nylon washers to protect the finish. The internal wiring is well organized. Control wiring uses a nice connector block mounted on a DIN rail.
The installation manual is very complete and detailed. Excellent documentation and easy to connect to generator controls.
There are no pre-punched knock outs. You will need to drill or punch the appropriate holes in the bottom of the cabinet, within the designated area. Cummins does not recommend punching holes in the side or top of the cabinet.
General information about transfer switches:
Manual lever is supplied. Pull manual lever down 1/8 rotation to switch the state of the transfer switch. Do not push the lever up. It has a ratchet action. Do not attempt to pull down beyond about 1/8 turn.
Transfer switches will only switch to a feed that has AC power. The transfer actuator uses the AC power of the selected input to throw the switch. In other words, don't expect a transfer switch to respond to a transfer command if your generator is not producing an output. Likewise, a transfer switch will not respond to a command to switch back to the utility if the utility voltage is not present. This behavior is desirable because it prevents transfers to a dead source, but it can be confusing if you are trying to diagnose your control wiring.
