Nice complete kit with a very useful wall switch

Install was a breeze and it works great. Very quiet inside the bathroom and clears out all steam from showers within 30 seconds of water being turned off. The wall switch that is included did not impress me at first, but after reading the instructions on how it's meant to be used, I love the thing! Only 1 button for my kids to press…perfect! I really like how it cycles the fan once an hour for the time and power that you pre set behind the switch plate.

Product id great !!

Replaced my aging noise motors from both bathrooms, now all you hear is the air being drawn out of the bathroom. Wasn't hard to install, everything was in the box. I didn't use the 4" to 3' duct reducer, not sure they need to be supplied with kit.

Yes

I have use this kit before another bathroom like it very much. The only thing I would improve on it would be a timer switch you can shut off not that one that runs the whole 20 minutes

Very Quiet

Easy to install by converting an existing bathroom exhaust fan into a very quiet exhaust fan. The only noise I hear after installation is the air whooshing through the existing fan grill and housing. I didn't need to use the 4 to 3 inch reduces included because my existing fan and ducting was 4 inches already. I also did not use the included 20 minute timer switch because I used the existing wall switch to control the fan. Overall, a very nice conversion kit.

Product Works Great!

This kit had everything I needed to convert my existing exhaust fan to a more efficient model. The kit came with detailed instructions, which made it super easy to install and wire. Fan works great!

Bathroom fan

Fan is very quiet. Tape that was supplied to hold 4 inch insulated duct on was absolutely worthless. I ended up using gorilla tape which work very well

I would buy the BFRK100 Bath Fan Retrofit Kit again.

My nephew in Ohio remodels houses for resale and only uses this product told me about the BFRK100 Bath Fan Retrofit Kit when I was talking to him about my bathroom mirrors get fogged up when I took a shower. Found the exhaust in my new Florida was undersized, so i replaced it with the BFRK100 Bath Fan Retrofit Kit. Everything is working great now. I did not need the 4" Duct that came with the kit and the mounting bracket was not in the kit when it arrived. However, I had one in 3 days after I called customer service.

Q: if you are replacing an existing ceiling fan with a 13 or 14 inch square grille, how does this unit adapt to the existing hole?

You don't. You use the existing fan housing. Take out the old motor and connect the fantech system. Sent from my iPhone

This kit doesn't have a replacement ceiling fan or grille. I simply de-energized my existing fan and utilized it for an exhaust grille. Then I extended the supplied ducting to the new fan and then extended more ducting to an exterior wall outlet. Sent from my iPhone

Q: Does this unit contain a back-draft damper?

Mine did not have a backdraft damper. You'd have to rely on the wall cap (dryer vent for me) or if your existing fan has a backdraft damper built in. I'm just relying on the dryer vent flapper for my damper.

I don't think that the retro fit unit has a back draft damper. Sent from my iPhone

I do not believe it comes with a back-draft damper.  I am not 100% sure if a back draft damper is included or not.  It was sometime ago that I installed this product and have forgotten exactly.  I used it in a bathroom which already had a fan and damper system in place.  I simply removed the old fan from the housing and mounted the Fantech unit in the attic. The old housing had a damper.  I have used many of the various Fantech fans and they are of excellent quality.  Pex supply has the best price around.
