Great product
It is the same housing that comes with the kits. It's a good product, however, I like to remove the included damper in favor of an inline damper. The included damper does not do a great job and can be noisy if there is any wind or pressure balance issues. Not a deal breaker by any means. I still love Fantech products.

Q: How noisy is this fan?

This part is just the intake for a separate fan unit. The fan unit will have one or more inlets (so you can pull air from multiple locations. These units are typically mounted in attics or behind an access cover. The noise you hear depends mostly on how long the ducting is from the intake to the fan, the longer the duct, the quieter it is.
